Sermon Outline

HOW TO DISCIPLINE CORRECTLY

I. INTRODUCTION:

  1. First go to the person doing wrong.

  2. Then take two or more with you.

  3. Then take it to the church.

  4. Let him be as a heathen or a publican.

II. PURPOSE OF DISCIPLINE.

  1. To save the soul of the person that is disciplined.

  2. To save the church.

  3. To save the world. Matt. 28:18-20; Mk. 16:15-16; Matt. 5:16; Acts 5:11

III. HOW WE ARE TO TREAT THOSE THAT ARE DISCIPLINED.

  1. Have no company with the that they might be ashamed.

  2. Mark them that cause division. Rom. 16:17

  3. Admonish him as a brother (encourage). God did not go out and commune with the prodigal.

IV. WHY DISCIPLINE IS NOT PRACTICED TODAY IN THE CHURCH.

  1. People have seen it practiced wrong.

  2. Many times there is too much sin in the church.

  3. Because we are too weak to practice it.

  4. Because we are afraid of what the church will do.

  5. We don't want to get involved.

  6. We say that is meddling in others business.

  7. We say we are sinners too.

THE LIBERAL POSSITION GIVES ENCOURAGEMENT TO NO DISCIPLINE.
